What Could Be More Meaningful Than Creating Your Own Wedding Rings?
Celebrate your love with a truly personal experience by hand crafting your wedding bands in our fully equipped silversmithing and goldsmithing studio. This private, full-day workshop invites you to create rings that carry both craftsmanship and story.
With expert guidance throughout the day, you’ll be supported at every stage of the process. Beginning with design, you’ll move on to heating, shaping, hammering, soldering, and finishing your rings, learning traditional metalsmithing techniques along the way. No prior experience is necessary—everything is demonstrated step by step so you can enjoy the process with confidence.
Material choices are discussed at the time of booking so metals can be ordered and prepared in advance. Material costs are additional. You are welcome to bring your own gold to be melted and transformed into your wedding bands, including heirloom or family rings that hold special meaning. If you choose to reuse your own gold, an additional fee of $140 applies and two extra hours are added to accommodate the extra time and materials required for melting and forming the ring blanks.
This experience is designed to be unhurried, meaningful, and memorable—resulting in wedding rings that are as unique and enduring as the commitment they represent.
To make your rings we will need to start off with a strip of metal which is roughly the same shape and width to the band you want to make.
So in order to get the correct materials for you there are three bits of information we will need to know
-
Width - how wide you would like your band? Average widths 2,3,4,5,6,8mm
-
Thickness - how thick would you like your band? standard is 1.5mm but if you work with your hands 2mm is best
-
Shape - what basic shape you would like from a curved band or a flat style of band?
-
Metal Choice - what metal you would like to make your rings out of?
We work in yellow gold, white gold, platinum, sterling silver, copper and bronze.
Metal Shape
Half Round
Curved on the outside and flat on the inside, this is the most classic shape of wedding band.
Rectangle / Flat
With straight sides and a flat outside and inside.
Comfort Fit
Oval or court is curved on the inside and also on the outside.
Round
Sometimes called halo, round is made from a piece of round wire and is only suitable for smaller rings.
Textures & Surface Finish
From the three basic ring shapes we can help you to make many different styles of band, from a classic perfectly polished ring to a unique hand textured band. You can apply a polished, brushed, textured, hammered or sculpted finish to any of the material options and you will get to try out some different techniques on test metal and a practice ring before applying to your own wedding bands.
This is just a small sample of a wide variety of textures we are able to produce in class.
Three Ways to Create Your Wedding Ring
We offer three unique options for creating your wedding ring, depending on your preferred process and materials.
Option 1: Classic Fabrication (Materials Provided)
We supply the metal in the shape and size of your choice. With guided, hands-on instruction, you’ll learn to bend, shape, texture, solder, and polish your ring from start to finish.
One Day Session
10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Cost: $245 per student
Bonus: Receive 25% off a second registration
Option 2: Use Your Own Gold
Bring your own gold—such as unworn jewellery, broken or inherited pieces, ingots, or coins—to create a deeply meaningful ring. Many students invite family members to contribute gold, making the piece even more special.
Approximately 10 grams of gold per student is required (exact amounts depend on ring width, thickness, and size). More material is needed initially than the final ring weight; any excess gold will be returned to you.
You’ll be guided through melting your gold, rolling it into a ring blank, then shaping, texturing, soldering, and polishing your ring.
One Full-Day Session
10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Cost: $245 per student

Option 3: Wax Carving & Lost Wax Casting (Gemstone Option Available)
Design and carve your ring in wax, with the option to include gemstones. Some stones can be cast in place, while others will require setting after casting. Stone suitability and setting requirements will be discussed in class.
Our expert instructors will guide you through the entire process. Your ring will be professionally cast between sessions and ready for finishing and polishing in your second class.
Note: Not all designs are suitable for this process. A discussion of your design idea is required prior to booking.
