What you will Learn in Lost Wax Casting:
Explore the sculptural side of jewelry making in this five-week lost wax casting course in Edmonton. This hands-on class introduces students to wax carving as a creative and versatile approach to designing one-of-a-kind jewelry. Working with jeweler’s wax, you’ll experiment with both additive and subtractive techniques to develop detailed forms while creating your own ring and pendant designs in a supportive studio environment.
Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you’ll learn how to carve, shape, and texture wax using hand tools and the flex shaft. The course also covers cuttlefish casting, casting organics and stone in place casting. Students are introduced to the fundamentals of metal casting and finishing, with the opportunity to cast each class to bring their designs to life.

Knowledge required
Level One Silversmithing as finishing or soldering techniques are not covered in this class.
What to bring
All tools and equipment are provided however students must bring or purchase metal to cast in class. Students can cast in Sterling Silver, Fine Silver, Gold or Bronze.

Lost Wax Casting 5 Week, Runs once a week for 5 weeks from 6:30-9:30pm
Lost Wax Casting - 3 Day Intensive, Runs 3 days in a row 10am-4pm.
What you will learn in Sand Casting:
Discover the process of sand casting and create bold, solid jewelry using this accessible, low-tech casting method. In this hands-on course, you’ll learn how to cast your own rings or pendants without the need for large or complex equipment, making it an ideal technique for home studios.
Students will explore how sand casting allows for organic shapes and forms that are difficult to achieve through traditional fabrication methods. You’ll also learn how to enhance your cast pieces using cast-in stones as an alternative to traditional gemstone setting, adding texture and visual interest to your designs.
Bring your old jewellery or coins to melt down or purchase metal in class. Students can cast in Sterling, Copper or Bronze. By the end of the course, you’ll leave with finished cast jewelry and the confidence to incorporate sand casting into your own practice.
What you'll get
Up to 3 handmade rings or pendants and the knowledge of how to bring the art of casting in your home studio.
